CHRIS TUORTO

I started my art journey as a young kid, learning from both my parents and older brothers alike. Born in New York and raised in North Carolina, I was able to find inspiration in nature, with the ocean being the driving force. Painting, drawing and glassblowing were my favorite forms of creativity growing up. 

 

 Glassblowing had been a main focus until returning back to New York City in 2015, where painting took up all my attention.  A new found inspiration from the energy of the city led to new works and new mediums.

With a strong passion for color and contrast, I found myself using mixed media, resin, glass, plants, shells and whatever else I could get my hands on to further explore the possibilities. 

​

 

I want to inspire, an emotion, a thought, a memory. I want the viewer to feel at peace but also stirred.

There is something so simple and alluring about color in nature that it often takes my breath away,

and I strive to find moments like that in my own art.

​

My hope is to continue pushing my limits and boundaries with all mediums of artistic expression.
